Born from a Nomadic Life

The story behind The Hold Circle and the search
for a true safe space.

My name is Myrian

I have been an expatriate since I was just six months old. Today, at 31, the world is still my home, but the definition of “home” has profoundly changed.

I have lived in more than ten countries and speak four languages. My childhood was nothing short of amazing. I look back on my nomadic upbringing with immense gratitude and positivity. It gave me wings, curiosity and a global soul. But wings also mean you are constantly in mid-air.

As I continued moving from country to country into my adult life, a shift happened. I started confronting emotions and doubts I couldn’t quite put into words. It was a heavy, quiet undercurrent that I didn’t fully understand. Why was I feeling fragmented? Why did I feel lonely surrounded by new, beautiful landscapes?

The Valencia Awakening: The “Lucky Expatriation” Mask

At the beginning of 2026, I moved to Valencia,Spain. Walking through the streets, I found myself surrounded by a vibrant community of fellow expats. And suddenly, the puzzle pieces clicked.

In talking to others, I saw my own hidden reflections. We are a community of people who put on a brave, happy face. We tell ourselves, and the world, how lucky we are. “Expat life is so great! What an amazing adventure!” And it truly is. There is so much joy, growth and beautiful positivity in this lifestyle. But beneath the surface of the postcard-perfect lives, there is a shared, unspoken truth:

We feel a bit lost. And more than anything, we just want to be held.

We carry a unique weight. It’s the grief of the places we left behind, the anxiety of the places we’ve just arrived in and the constant pressure to adapt, blend in and look fulfilled. This life brings incredible highs, but sometimes, we are tired of the surface-level conversations. Sometimes, we just want to go deeper. We want to talk about what really matters.

That is why I created The Hold Circle. This is my take on the nomadic experience. An invitation to take off the armor.

It is a dedicated space to ask the real questions, honor the hidden emotions and finally release the weight we’ve been carrying, whether it’s been weighing on us since we left… or since we arrived.

Here, you are
